White patches on the skin are an indication of Psoriasis. Psoriasis is a persistent autoimmune disease which can appear as red patches on the outer layer of the skin and can cause inflammation which causes pustules and silver scales on the skin. In this case body starts making skin at a faster rate before the dead cells even shed. These dead cells start building up on the upper surface of the skin which leads to silvery-white patches called scales.

Psoriasis white patches are quite common in certain types of psoriasis. Every type has different symptoms so dermatologists carefully examine which type of psoriasis the patient is suffering from so that they can recommend the cure accordingly.

There are many ways in which you can get rid of these white patches. Some of which are as follows:

• Apply a cream or ointment that contains coal tar or anthralin. Leave the product on for 15 minutes, and then
rinse off to remove the white patches.

• Apply a cream containing salicylic acid or lactic acid. These are very effective at removing the white scales.

• Soak in an oatmeal bath to loosen the white scales. There are oatmeal bath products available or you can add a
cup of regular oatmeal to your warm bath.

• Apply a medication that includes vitamin D, such as calcipotriene which is a synthetic form. It is effective for
   removing the white scales.

• Use a product that contains tazarotene, which is a derivative of vitamin A. It is common for your white scales to
become quite red prior to their clearing.
